How to limit access to the platform by IP address or a specific schedule.

It is possible to restrict access to the platform for some users. However, keep in mind that this restriction will only serve to prevent access to the platform and not to CaptureData.

We have two ways to do it:

To use the restrictions you can establish two types: General Restrictions (in “My company” section) and/or Specific Restrictions for each user (“My employees“).

To settle a general restriction go to “Administración“, then to “My company” . In the lower right section you can see “Time Restrictions” and “IP Restrictions

Clicking on the pencil icon corresponding to the restriction we want to add, the editor will be opened in order to edit the list of IP’s.

Menu of IP Restrictions

Or the schedule, divided into opening time and closing time.

Menu to edit "Time Restrictions".

When you finish editing either of the two restrictions, save the changes with the green confirmation button.

The next step will be to establish restrictions on specific employees of your company.

Go to “Administration” and then “My employees“, click on an employee you want to restrict and the menu of their profile will be displayed.

In the lower right corner you will find the IP/time restriction section.

Check the restriction you want for this employee: Hours, IPs or both. A menu will appear to configure the restriction of this specific employee:

Menu to edit "Restrict hours and Restrict IP's" of employee.

Now that you have marked the type of restriction you want for this employee, you should know that if you do not specify any time or IP, it will use the ones you have saved as general restrictions.

Otherwise, if you indicate a time and/or a set of IPs, this configuration will prevail for this employee.

When you finish editing either of the two restrictions, save the changes with the green confirmation button.

Example:

Imagine you have this configuration:

Company

Schedule: 08:00 – 20:00

IP’s:  233.25.24.12 y 233.25.24.13

Employee nr. 1

Schedule: Not specified.

IP’s:  233.25.24.14

If you set No Time restriction to Employee nr 1 but a specific IP restriction, this is what is going to happen:

    • The employee can only access with IP  233.25.24.14, since it is the specific configuration you have given to him as an employee.
    • He can access to the platform from 08:00 to 20:00 because he has NO defined Time restriction but the Company does.
